The cause of his sudden death was said due to cardiac arrest
Michael Jackson was brought to the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles around 12 hours ago. Earlier there were several hundred people there, before it got dark - there was a sense of grief, of disbelief.
But in the last few hours, these people have been singing his songs, dancing, there was a guy on a keyboard earlier, playing his songs for people to dance along to.
This has turned into an imprompt celebration of Michael Jackson's music. He's the King of Pop as far as they're concerned. They're still shocked by his sudden death, but they're here because they want to show their support.
"His family requests that the media please respect their privacy during this tough time," Jermaine Jackson said. "May Allah be with you, Michael, always."
Pop diva Madonna was among dozens of celebrities who struggled to cope. "I can't stop crying over the sad news," the singer said in a statement. "The world has lost one of the greats, but his music will live on forever!"
Pop star Justin Timberlake, who has been compared to Jackson, said: "We have lost a genius and a true ambassador of, not only pop music, but of all music."
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger lamented the loss of "one of the most influential and iconic figures in the music industry."
